Abstract
Evaluation of the previously developed single nucleotide polymorphism panel on cocoa individuals from the Malaysian commercial cocoa clone selection was done to test the discrimination power of the panel. The panel was assessed to determine its ability to distinguish among the training set of 568 cocoa individuals collected from the Malaysian commercial cocoa selection. Analyses demonstrated that the single nucleotide polymorphism panel is effective to fingerprint and discriminate between the individual cocoa in the collection which can serve as a very useful tool to verify potential parent clones in cocoa breeding programmes. Furthermore, the availability of this single nucleotide polymorphism panel will also be particularly useful in tissue culture verification and cocoa seedlings / planting materials supply chain quality control.
